Lot 1621 Stephen Donoghue
Leading English jockey in the 1910s and 1920s (1884–1945). He was Champion Jockey ten times between 1914 and 1923 and was one of the most celebrated English horse racing sportsmen. Donoghue’s rare 1920 Aliens Order embarkation card, one page, 6 x 4, no date. Embarkation card is filled out in pencil by Donoghue, including his full name, age “37,” occupation “Jockey,” and address in the UK. Signed at the bottom in pencil “S Donoghue.” In fine condition, with expected light corner wear from handling and a few light spots of foxing to corners. Embarkation cards, also known as a departure cards, are used by immigration authorities as a means of passenger identification and record of entry and departure between countries.
